Sherri's Read:
“Small
Miracles of Friendship, Remarkable Coincidences of Warmth and Devotion “ is a
compilation of short stories by authors Yitta Halberstam and Judith Leventhal. Each true story is told with a comment at the
end. The authors goal is to make their readers see how miracles are all around
us. We just need to open our eyes and become aware of our surroundings and how
crossing paths with others with positive energy can truly affect our journey on
earth. Love and friendships can make a major influence on all of us, as long as
we allow ourselves to be aware of all the positive gifts surrounding us. They
also hope this will lead to people cherishing and celebrating the magic of
human interaction that can bring more positive energy to the world. Too often
humans ignore the positive and hold on to the negative experiences; we are
challenged with in our life’s journey.
The stories are all about causes and effects that came out of an act of
humane actions that changed the characters lives. Kindness is an act towards
making this a better world. Humans need to become more humane then mankind will
be closer to living in a peace filled world.
One
of my favorites is a story contained three characters; one a pregnant Italian
newly wed and two young brothers. The young boys spent a summer entertaining
her while her husband was at work. The older brother was in charge of his three
year old brother. During their visits with the mother to be, the younger
brother stroked her belly. At the end of the summer they moved and didn’t get
to see the baby. Years later the younger brother got very
ill and
needed a specialist to save his life. The doctor was the same baby he had
stroked so many years before. There are other stories of uniting souls in
marriage or in friendship. Some are of strangers changing lives or saving
lives. There are stories of war and of peace. Most of the stories are about one
person changing the journey of another person in a magical way as to leave the
reader in awe of the mysteries in life that can’t be explained away. The little
things that make life so magical.
